LETI laboratories is a research-focused, independant, and family owned, biopharmaceutical company. Its headquarters are in Barcelona, Spain and the production plant and allergy research laboratory are located in Tres Cantos (Madrid), Spain. It has subsidiaries in Germany and Portugal and exclusive distributors in several countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Laboratorios LETI closed the business year ending 31 May 2010 with a turnover of more than 75.9 million euros, an increase of 8% compared to the previous year and 367 employees, of whom 64% are female.

In its various areas of specialisation, Laboratorios LETI aims to contribute to society, through products that add value to healthcare. In addition to effective treatments, LETI contributes to the sustainable improvement of health and wellbeing by paying attention to prevention, early diagnosis and specialised body care. In a society which is increasingly prosperous and with greater life expectancy, self-care, prevention and early diagnosis are essential and perfectly achievable, in order to maintain the public and private health systems.

Research and specialisation are critical elements in the strategy of Laboratorios LETI. Having innovative and patented products is essential to international growth in the selected market segments. For this reason, Laboratorios LETI devotes between 8 and 10 percent of its turnover to research and product development. While strategic planning and resource allocation to different research programs takes place at corporate level, implementation is the responsibility of the individual business units, with programs and resources commensurate with its objectives and strategies. Furthermore, the R&D departments play an important role in training Spanish, German, Portuguese and Latin American specialists. Immunology and biotechnology which are the roots of the company have been the platform for the diversification process into related fields.

Laboratorios LETI has a matrix structure based on products and geographical regions, which include the following business units: Allergy, Dermatology, Diagnostics and Immunology and Vaccines.

  • The Allergy Unit specialises in the production of allergenic extracts for in vivo diagnosis and the aetiological treatment of allergies.
  • The Dermatology Unit focuses on skin care and other products for specialised body care, all of which are available in chemists/pharmacies and generally under medical prescription.
  • The Diagnostics Unit specializes in 'in vitro' diagnostics, culture media for assisted reproduction and vaccines.
  • The Immunology and Vaccines Unit has the objective of promoting research and innovation discovering vaccines to prevent and alleviate diseases that affect people around the world.

It also has territorial units in Portugal and North and Central Europe. LETI Pharma GmbH, based in Witten (Germany), and Laboratorios LETI, Lda, based in Porto (Portugal).

All the above are supported by the following corporate departments: Legal, Finance and Administration, Innovation, Logistics and Human Resources.

Laboratorios LETI is a founder member of Asebio (Spanish Association of Biocompanies) and EAMG (European Allergens Manufacturers Group), a member of Farmaindustria, FENIN (Spanish Federation of Healthcare Technology Companies) and BPI (Bundesverband der Industrie Pharmazeutischen). In addition, it donates to various charities and non-profit organizations in areas related to health and education.
