Acknowledgement of the positive repercussions of early diagnosis
in treating diseases and preventing them through vaccination
campaigns on people’s health and the sustainability
of health systems has boosted this activity of Laboratorios
LETI. Moreover, it has been extended to cover the diagnosis
and prevention of Leishmaniasis (one of the most common parasitic
diseases worldwide) and the growing field of assisted reproduction.
The development of technologies for producing
flu vaccines using inactivated live viruses was an important
technological step forward and earned LETI the recognition
of the World Health Organisation as one of the main international
flu vaccine manufacturers in the world. This culminated its
consolidation in the vaccine sector. LETI plays an important
role in supplying flu vaccines to governmental and regional
health services and directly to hospitals, mutual insurance
companies and pharmacies.
LETI launched the first quick urine tests
for diagnosing infectious respiratory diseases in Spain, such
as those arising from Legionella, Pneumococcus, VRS and A/B
flu strains and for the diagnosis of Lyme disease.
Laboratorios LETI’s range of products
for assisted reproduction holds an important place in this
fast developing field with important prospects for the future.
LETI’s Diagnosis and Vaccines Division
has just launched the first tests for diagnosing canine Leishmaniasis.
In addition to diagnosing the parasitic infection, it can
predict the course of the disease. Q Letitest comes in two
formats consisting of a quick immunochromatographic test for
screening the disease and the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent
Assay) test for monitoring and prognosis.
